Every year, I look forward to the 2 weeks around the solstice where the hilltops of Colorado are covered with medicinal Saint John’s Wort. During that short window, my team makes a year’s worth of Saint John’s Wort Oil. Our herbal extract is quite strong because we make the infusion within a few hours of harvesting her fresh flowers and leaves.

She loves to grow at high elevation, next to bee balm, yarrow, and grindelia. The smell of her flowers reminds me of butterscotch.

Saint John’s Wort Oil is one of the herbal oils I always keep on me and here is why:

  • Saint Johns Wort is often known as the “extension of sunshine” as it has a deep affinity with the sun. It blooms during the time of year when the sun radiates its strongest lights - summer solstice!

    The yellow flowers and green leaves produce a bright red pigment (called Hypericum), which is what makes St. John's Wort oil a beautiful, bright red color!

    Fresh Saint John’s Wort flowers were infused into organic, unrefined olive oil.

  • Keep this herbal oil readily accessible to apply to earlobes, jawline, temples, and back of the neck for a quick middle of the workday massage; use to soothe skin after being in the sun; apply to the abdomen and lower back after strenuous physical activity or during your monthly bleed; use for overall body massage oil and foot rubs. You can pretty much slather this one EVERYWHERE!

    Intended for external use only. Note: St. John's Wort applied externally may make skin slightly more susceptible to sunburn for the next few (1-4) hours.

  • This topical oil comes in a 2oz amber glass bottle with an applicator top.
